My friend Crystal, at her UH Student Art Show last year.
I almost ran over Crystal yesterday evening in the surf, and as I passed by her (safely!) I remembered that I had scanned this image and wanted to show it on this blog. She is a growing talent in photography, and I made here pose for a shot but being like most artist sometimes when you stick a camera in their face they get quite shy. As I was shooting something caught her attention, and I got this one frame which I think was better than the other frames. I do like the way the two images on the wall form a good optical balance in the frame, and her turning really pulls the viewer into the frame, and I like her hair spilling over her shoulder.
Shot with a Nikon FE with MD-12 motor, with a Nikkor 35mm f/2.8 K, which was a regular camera set-up for a few months over the summer. Small, light, and the motordrive has a great sound, like a ‘squeal-Clack, Squeal-Clack. The MD-12 motordrive was the sound that started that classic hit from the 1980’s, Duran Duran’s “Girls on Film”.
